When using PyLucene in your application all threads must be created as instances of PyLucene.PythonThread. These behave exactly like Python's normal threading.Thread. Threads created in any other manner will cause crashes. See the discussion of the underlying GCC bug (fixed in GCC 4.2).

This patch may be helpful, and has been applied to SVN.
