How To Write a ViewerParcel

This tutorial is out of date. We will start on a new one later. Sorry!

Chandler is designed to make it very easy for developers to build new parcels. (What's a ViewerParcel?)

Learning wxPython works will probably be a bigger challenge than learning how Chandler works.

All the programming tools you need (except for a Python-friendly editor) should be in the Chandler distributions.

If you do write a parcel, please add it to the list of third-party parcels. We suggest that you follow the ChandlerCodingStyleGuidelines.

To be done later, probably for the 0.2 release

  • The initialization sequence in Chandler
  • Event-handling sequence
  • Adding a second View to a ViewerParcel
  • Working with URIs in Chandler
  • Persistence in Chandler

There is more information on our development environment, including links to tutorials and documentation for the packages we use.
