Priscilla's Usage of Chandler 0.6 and upgraded to Chandler 0.6.1

Here are some top issues I ran into this past four weeks:

  • The day view of the calendar was not obvious to me. I happened to click upon the day view by accident and didn't even realize my week view had changed to day view. I've always viewed my calendar in week view. Rarely on month/day view. (Probably because it resembles my paper calendar)
  • Deleting a collection and then re-subscribing a collection was not working, as it thought I was already subscribed to that collection already.
  • Chandler crashing. I'm starting to get the hang of dumping my repository. That's not good. =(

Notes on Chandler 0.6 Usage:

2/6/06 -Tried to set a floating task on my calendar to send weekly notes to Sheila for design summary. I made it occur weekly, but when asked when it 'ends', it gave me the dates, but didn't let me input 'never'

2.19.06 - I just noticed for the first time that if I click on the day, it displays the day view of that day. Definitely cryptic and not obvious to me. Path: I had somehow clicked on the Monday (at the top), and didn't have any events on that day. I also did not noticed the lines of the week were missing until I double clicked and noticed the event had spanned across. Then I noticed the lines were missing, I looked around the top of the calendar where the weeks were and noticed Sunday was highlighted. I then clicked on the 'Week', it was selected (with color). and noticed the week at a glance view is back.

2.20.06 - Double clicked on Saturday March 11th to add an event about a pet fair. Turns out I added the event in the wrong calendar. I realized I must have added Sheia's calendar called 'work'. - So I began to rename her calendar with a right click. Doesn't work. I forgot you had to double click to rename the collections. So I double click to rename the collection to 'Sheila's calendar'. - Then I selected the misplaced event, using my keyboard, I 'apple key' + 'x' to cut the event. Select the correct collection, 'Priss' calendar' and 'apple key' + 'v' the event. Woo hoo it worked! Just as I expected. A bit clumsy to begin with, since I had added the event in the wrong collection, though I'm glad the correction was not too difficult to do.

Need to test something, and deleted a collection. Once again I could not add the collection back into my calendar. The message says, 'You are already subscribed'. Going to go back to the repository to delete my folder again. I'm starting to get used to finding this folder. March 20th, 12PM. Welcome to Chandler 0.6. (it's technically 7:48PM–hmmm. would it be cool if the welcome note actually landed on the time I opened the application for the first time? Of course then there's another whole can of worms to deal with...okay, never mind. Just a thought.)

2/26/06 Updated to 0.6.1 on my home machine on Friday 2.24.06. Opened it for the second time and it crashed. Error message: "unexpected problem while trying to start..." filed as bug#5286. Removed repository from folder and updating all of my subscribed calendars again! This time I have Sheila's, Office & Katie's calendar to install. I started at 12pm.

2/27/06 11:23am I was going to place an event on Priss calendar (different from 'My Calendar') The item selected was Katie's calendar. Though as I clicked on Wed. 2/1/06, the event had selected the correct collection (probably because my calendar compared to the other collections is the only read/write collection. In any event, I just tried to reproduce this again, and it did indeed have the right behavior. I have Katie's calendar selected, and when I tried to place an event on the calendar, it popped up a warning message that Katie's calendar is a read only collection.
