Cosmo Engineering Meeting 31 Aug 2006

Agenda

  • QOTF: What should we be using this meeting for
  • New meetings - Release and Bug council meetings
  • Hiring
  • Outside interest
  • Cosmo Planning update
  • Coordination between folks

Notes

  • QOTF
    • Brian
      • want to undestand what other people are doing -- the new meeting format helps a lot wit this, but not totally
      • sometimes need to communicate what he's doing in detail
      • wants to make sure that the meeting minutes are indexed somewhere that is findable.
    • Bobby
      • sometimes we have mailing list threads that aren't converging/concluding, and sometimes a bit of chat in the meeting can help unblock the list discussion (as long as that bit also goes back to the list)
      • discussions of short term tactics
    • Matthew
      • wants to be up on what others are doing
      • social aspect is important
    • Bear - wants to know what others are up to
    • Priscilla
      • wants to raise issues and get them closed on
      • wants people to ask about planning
    • Jared
      • social aspect of meeting is a big part
      • tracking is also important
    • Mikeal - ditto, everyone stole his comments
    • Katie
      • surface issues that people should be talking to each other about -- sometime people don't even realize they should be talking to each other about a topic
      • bring up issues
      • social aspect is important
    • Ted - ditto

  • New meetings - the Cosmo engineering meeting will be every other week. On the off weeks, but in the same time slots, we will have 2 1hr meetings related to release topics and Bug Council

  • Cosmo Planning update - Ted wanted eveyone to be aware of http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/cosmo-dev/2006-August/001424.html which is a public view into the roadmap planning process for Cosmo

  • General Coordination discussion
    • Brian wanted to "brag" that in the course of doing the Hibernate integration, he fixed 5-6 outstanding Cosmo bugs because the new architecture made it easy to do so
    • Brian has been looking at the Google home page widgets and wants to write one that will yank data out of Cosmo
    • Bobby is working on a performance test to quantify the improvement (we hope) on large PROPFINDs. Mikeal volunteered some test code that he has, and Jared pointed out that Bug:5996 has the whole sad story on big PROPFINDs
