We are currently working towards a fully automated data migration solution for our 0.7 release. In the meantime, existing 0.6 or 0.6.1 Chandler users, who want to upgrade to our interim 0.7alpha2 release, will have to manually migrate their data from their old version of Chandler to the new one. When you install 0.7alpha2, it will create a brand new empty repository leaving your previous version in tact.

Users can restore their old Chandler data using the following steps:

Step #1: Restoring published shares

If you have published any data onto the Cosmo Demo server, you will be able to restore these shares into your new version of Chandler. Keep in mind, this will also work if you are using your own installation of Cosmo or some other vanilla WebDAV server. This will restore any data that you have shared to the server, not only calendar events.

1. Bring up the accounts dialog by selecting the File->Accounts menu item. Select the sharing account and fill in all the details for your account on the Cosmo Demo server (or whatever server you are using).

2. Then select the Collection->restore published shares menu item. Select your sharing account in the drop-down and you should see a list of all collections you have shared to this account.

3. Individually select the shares you want to restore and they will be downloaded and added to your sidebar. Chandler 0.6 and 0.6.1 users will be able to continue to sync shares with people who have upgraded to 0.7alpha2.

Step #2: Restoring subscribed shares

The list of accounts in the restore dialog gives only those which you have published to the server. If you have previously subscribed to a number of others shares, then you will have to re-subscribe to all of them individually using the original tickets.

Step #3: Migrate non-shared calendar data

For data that is not shared, users will have to launch their old version of Chandler, select each calendar in the sidebar and manually export it by selecting the File->Import/Export->Export events as iCalendar menuitem. These calendars can then be re-imported into Chandler 0.7alpha2.
