Summary

  • Plan : Finish m4 (0.5.04)
  • Progress : On track on m4 tasks and bug fixes
  • Problems : Couple of tasks moved to m5 (CPIA doc, possibly couple of Calendar bugs), wxWidgets debugging and building needs improvements

Actions

  • m4 (0.5.04) : nail this milestone!
  • Bug Model : Philippe to produce a bug model for 0.6
  • m5 (0.5.05) : marking bugs for m5 in Bugzilla

Minutes

Specs

Couple of specs have been called out for final vote. Please speak out before it's too late... Note however that final review does not mean that things can't change under the pressure of implementation constraints but if there's something you know now, please speak out.

Upcoming spec update by dev: SideBar? - John

Schedule

m4 (0.5.04) : It's only 10 days out! Please check your Bugzilla list and keep it clean. I'm monitoring it. Individual status:

  • John : Sidebar highest priority, CPIA doc and "hello world" parcel likely to slip to m5
  • Bryan : On track
  • David : On track, mark 3165 fixed (devs will post only samples they really need to avoid bloat)
  • Alec : May be 1 or 2 bugs won't make it, need to review with Philippe later this week
  • Jed : On track
  • Donn : On track but some DnD bugs have been reopened, those must be set higher priority than CPIA Script

m5 (0.5.05) : I'm late working on assigning stuff to the milestone in Bugzilla but I'm working on it.

Toolbar : Stefan's work on Mac toolbar coming in this week apparently.

Interns : Arel and Brendan working on block-ification of calendar.

Engineering Issues

Debugging wxWidgets : We really need to make progress on a better environment for Mac debugging. David will be working on that after m4.

Building wxWidgets : We need a clearer separation between internal and external (ala pyICU or pyLucene, see bear suggestion). Jed and David to make a proposal so that committing wxWidgets code to svn will be built more automatically and in a cleaner way. Should also address the issue of making integration of new wxWidgets versions easier. Wait for Heikki to come back to discuss and implement.

Running Chandler on --clean : We need a better/smarter way of reloading parcels and avoiding throwing the entire repository at each minor version change. Important for dogfooding. Philippe to work on some scenarios.

Build numbering : We only get the generic version and the date build in Bugzilla. Could we use SVN rev to identify builds? Would be great. Philippe to propose that in engineering meeting.

Recent threads on [Dev] : No particular comment, the threads (ItemIter?(), XML namespace) are working quite well. Good to see the dev list being put to good use on important discussions like that.

People

Note that next weekend is a 4 days weekend: Monday July 4th and Tuesday July 5th are both holidays for OSAF folks.

Other

  • Staff meeting demo : Philippe to demo the 4 fields date/time editing in Detail View posted by Bryan (Bryan will be on the phone that day).
  • OSCon demo : Sheila to demo at OSCon. Linux? May be but not crucial, need to be tested for sure.
  • Personal status : Please update your status on this page!
  • Next meeting : No meeting next week!! (5th of July) Next meeting will be July 12th.

Status

Philippe

  • Read and reviewed specs
  • Doing research on other frameworks (information gathering)
  • Diving into toolbar code
  • Exploring wxWidgets issues and plan to address them
  • Tracking M4 (0.5.04)

John

  • Finally checked in RotateHue, HSVtoRGB, RGBtoHSV, wxWidgets documentation, sample code, bug fixes and support for wxPython. I built and tested it in our builds and wxWidgets CVS head and submitted a patch to wxWidgets.
  • Noticed that the Linux launchers were broken by ICU and fixed them.
  • Fixed last lingering print to stdout in the release builds
  • Simplified use of DocumentTypes
  • First crack at fixing bug #2810: main part of summary view doesn't have grid lines
  • Added a new mode for wxGrid that disables the display of the cursor, and when there's no cursor double click edits a cell. Updated widgets doc and sample code
  • Eliminated flicker when clicking on an item in a grid that doesn't change the selection
  • Fixed a bug that didn't update the selection correctly in a grid
  • fixed bugs: #3170, #2890. Narrowed down bug #3171, which turned out to be a mac widgets text control bug, so reassigned to davids. Narrowed down bug #3269, which looks like a calendar bug, so reassigned to alecf.

Jed

  • Your status here...

David

  • fixed some bugs, particularly Bug 2742
  • improved wxMac contextual menu support
  • submitted a bunch of wxMac - wxTextCntl changes to wxWidgets group
  • started integration of new wxMac implementation of wxToolbar
  • started work on wxMac focus bugs
  • continued work on wxMac debugging support
  • updated various wxPython wiki pages
  • worked with Arel on various dev. tasks
  • wrote a WWDC 2005 show report wiki page

Arel

  • Your status here...

Alec

  • returned from Paternity leave
  • Fixed some blockers that came up while I was gone
  • Started getting Brendan up to speed on calendar stuff
  • Handed a few bugs off to Brendan
  • Working on some multi-calendar issues that were open before my vacation- working with john to try to resolve wierd refreshing issues
  • Working with Jeffrey to start implementing recurrence stuff

Brendan

  • Fixed some small visual main calendar UI stuff
  • Working with Arel on a block-ification refactoring of the main calendar UI

Bryan

  • Done with all but one planned 0.5.04 bug
  • Also done with most new bugs found during 0.5.04 (except for a few that I'd like Jed to look into; they're GTK issues under wx on linux)
  • One pass done prioritizing remaining 0.6 bugs; need to work out what's going to make it into 0.6 and what's not (it's a big list!)

Donn

  • On vacation this week... in Ohio.
  • Made good progress with CPIA Script last week.
    • Added a "Run Script..." dialog to the Test menu.
    • Anthony tested GlobalEvent scripts, put results on a wiki.
    • Enhanced scripts so non-global events work too.
  • Updated Bugs and Task List.
  • On track for 5.04 milestone
