Notes from the meeting with Katie

  • We now have timings from the hardhat run on 3 machines (Aparna's Powerbook, Anthony's iBook and the QA machine kilauea).
  • There's no doubt that kilauea is slower and we need to look for a way to fix the problem. Katie suggested a few things:
    • Run a disk scan on kilauea and see if the disk is fragmented. Unfragment the disk if necessary.
    • Currently kilauea has only 512 MB RAM(compared to 768 on my and Anthony's machines)
    • Run the unit tests on all the 3 platforms once more to see if the numbers are consistent.
  • Anthony has composed the 1000 event calendar and is ready for import. Anthony will import the calendar into Chandler and determine the time it takes to import.
  • Go over the use cases with Sheila on Monday.
  • Research other apps and find the target times (importing 1000/4000 item calendar into Chandler and iCal and determine how long does each take)
  • Later on we will also need to determine how to get performance metrics for email - Check with Grant on how they did it at Apple.
  • Katie is working on loading calendar data in an excel spreadsheet that can be exported as a .csv file and then using a python script we can upload that into Chandler. Olivier may be a good resource for writing this python script.
