Resolving Settings Dialog - Advanced Features

Based on a conversation with Mimi:

  • Open issue What do we call the PIM UI? In 0.6 we can probably call it Calendar?
  • Open issue Do we want the Advanced settings to show up in the Settings Dialog? Just like they would when you're signing up for an account?
  • Open issue When downloading SNARF? Should the defaults be for the 'Home directory browser'?

This includes:

When logging into Cosmo, take me directly to:
(x) Calendar
( ) User accounts list [ONLY APPEARS IF USER IS AN ADMIN] [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN]
( ) Home directory browser

[ ] Provide access to User accounts list from Calendar [ONLY APPEARS IF USER IS AN ADMIN] [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN]
[ ] Provide access to Home directory browser from Calendar [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN]

Workflows

Non-admin user

  • User creates new account
  • User clicks to open Advanced settings:

When logging into Cosmo, take me directly to:
(x) Calendar
( ) Home directory browser

[ ] Provide access to Home directory browser from Calendar

  • If user selects 'Home directory browser' instead of Calendar, they will be automatically taken to the 'Home directory browser' when logging in
  • If user checks 'Provide access to Home directory browser from Calendar', a 'Home directory' link will be added to the right of the 'username' and time zone pulldown, if there is one, in the Calendar UI user account area. Note Currently, the 'Home directory' is called 'Home collection' on qacosmo. It will need to be changed to 'Home directory'.

Admin user

  • Users that have been nominated as admins will get a pop-up the next time they log in, prompting them to adjust their settings:

Congratulations! You have been granted administrative privileges. Please confirm your new settings. [Okay]

  • When user clicks [Okay], the Settings dialog pops-up with the "Advanced settings" area automatically open:

When logging into Cosmo, take me directly to:
( ) Calendar
(x) User accounts list
( ) Home directory browser

[x] Provide access to User accounts list from Calendar
[x] Provide access to Home directory browser from Calendar

  • If user clicks [Save settings], admin user logs directly into the User accounts list; and
  • Links to both the 'User accounts list' and their 'Home directory' are added to the right of the 'username' and time zone pulldown in the Calendar UI 'user account area'.

Providing mock ups, below are version 1 + 2:

  • 1 settings dialog:

  • 2 settings dialog:

OR

Current proposal is to have the Advanced Settings in it's own tab:

* 3 settings w/ advanced tab:
