Apps meeting 3 May 2005

Agenda

  • Specs : dev specs and status on Sheila's specs
  • Bugzilla tracking
  • SWAG : First data
  • Open Mike...

Meeting Notes

  • Specs : Added 3 "dev only" specs to the spec list and assigned them. Haven't decided yet when those will be written. Philippe to meet with the owners this week. The 3 specs are :
    • wxPython / wxWidgets : David : most of the work is already described on the wxPython page. The spec will document general design and architecture as needed.
    • CPIA Improvements : John : we need to document and prioritize this work with respect to the 0.6 goals
    • Journaling : Donn : the objective of Journaling is to get the building blocks of a testing framework. The first elements of which (CPIA Script) are already under way.
  • Bugzilla : the Bugzilla tracking proposal has been through several iterations. Great feedback (thanks!). Met with Heikki and Aparna this morning. Some modifs to make and get approval from the team (Philippe). The goal is to have Bugzilla ready within 48 hours and to get dev tasks logged before Monday.
  • SWAG : Final tally contingent on here above mentioned Bugzilla work. Philippe collated the data provided so far on the 0.6 Scoping page so far. Total is 190 days, i.e. roughly 2 months for 5 full time devs. Add the 2 months of cleaning debuggins already logged and we are on a 5 to 6 months release cycle right there. More work needed of course to refine these estimates and stage/prioritze the work items (see above). When that's done, we also need to set up the content of the intermediate milestone.
  • wxWidget 2.6.0 : Will be checked in any time now (update: done as per 05/04). Improvement on text looks great, bitmap not great though especially on Mac. Need to evaluate that and triage the bugs marked as dependent on 2.6.0 integration.
  • D demo : John working on getting the sidebar stuff specified by Mimi in asap. Broke the selection when doing this today... Working to fix it. We'll check the result next week (Monday) and evaluate what can de delivered for Mitch's demo.
  • CPIA Script : That's the first part of Journaling from Donn. Check the current spec and send feedback to Donn (or, better, comment on the Wiki)

Actions

  • Philippe : drive consensus and complete Bugzilla implementation of task tracking
  • Philippe : set up spec content and plan for the assigned specs
  • All : log tasks in Bugzilla
  • Code review: Philippe to write a proposal and circulate among ourselves, Lisa, Katie and Heikki
